Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder characterized by increased blood sugar levels due to decreased insulin secretion by pancreatic beta cells and/or impaired insulin function (insulin resistance). Treatment therapy for diabetes mellitus patients uses oral antidiabetics and/or insulin to reduce blood sugar levels to normal. Prescribing Patterns The purpose of this study was to determine DM prescribing patterns in hospital outpatient pharmacy installations. This research is a descriptive study on patients with a diagnosis of type 2 DM who are undergoing outpatient care at Tk. Hospital. IIIDr. R. Soeharsono Banjarmasin for the January–December 2020 period with a retrospective search taken from patient medical record data. The largest group of drugs given to patients is biguanide (Metformin 47%). The type of therapy that is often used is a combination of 2 types of oral antidiabetic drugs (30%) with the combination drug Metformin + Acarbose + Glimimirid (68%).
