Penatalaksanaan Fisioterapi Menggunakan Pilates Exercise Untuk Meningkatkan Keseimbangan Pasien Diabetes Mellitus Tipe II
Abstract
Diabetes Mellitus (DM) Type 2 is a metabolic disorder characterized by an increase in blood sugar due to a decrease in insulin secretion by pancreatic beta cells and or decreased insulin function (insulin resistance). Patients with DM type 2 have balance impairments which hinder the activity of daily living, so patients must be given the right treatment, one of treatment is pilates exercise. This study aims to determine the management of pilates exercise in patients with balance disorders due to type 2 diabetes melitus. The method used case study with 1 respondent using the Berg Balance Scale (BBS) to measure balance. The results of a study conducted in the Pelambuan village, Banjarmasin city is pilates exercises for 18 times therapy in 6 weeks with 30 minutes can improving balance in patient DM type 2. The conclusion is pilates exercise can improving balance in patient DM type 2 because this exercise can improve muscles strength, including core muscles and trunk muscles, then accompanied by stability of the vertebrae and an increase in leg endurance which will prevent also reduce joint repositioning error and improve balance.
